Blepharoplasty EYE Rescue

EYE RESCUE. Blepharoplasty.

Surgical correction of droopy eyelids and eyelid bags is currently a highly demanded procedure because it achieves spectacular results without changing the patient’s face or expression; this procedure does not “stretch” the skin, but rather “eliminates” extra skin and fat bags.

Indications:

Ideal candidates for blepharoplasty are those who want to improve the appearance of flaccid skin and eliminate eyelid bags.

Procedure:

Blepharoplasty is a quick and simple procedure; it does not require hospitalization because it is generally carried out using local anesthesia and sedation, and the healing process is quick. The design of incisions is particularly important because it defines the quantity and form of the skin to be eliminated. On the upper eyelid, the incision is made in a natural crease; on the lower eyelid, it is made one or two millimeters from the eyelid border. In both cases, scars are barely visible in one or two months. The entire blepharoplasty procedure lasts for approximately two hours.

Complications:

Any surgical procedure entails a certain degree of risk and it is important that the patient understands the risks associated with blepharoplasty. The most common risks include: immediate bruising and inflammation and later dry eyes, most commonly if the patient experienced dry eyes before the procedure. People who smoke can experience problems with scarring after surgery, and because of this it is recommended that they stop smoking at least one week before and for one month after the procedure.

After surgery:

·First 48hrs: icing the area treated and taking appropriate medication to control bruising and inflammation is recommended.

·First week: the patient will be able to participate in social and working life after the third or fourth day. Stitches will be taken out after four or five days.

·First month: using sunglasses is recommended. After fifteen days makeup can be applied to the treated area and after four weeks scars will begin to show normal coloring.

·First year: at Dorsia Clinics our plastic surgeons continue follow-up revisions of the surgery for up to one year after the procedure.
