BREAST REDUCTION.
Breast reduction is a very effective treatment for women with overly developed breasts. Breasts that are overly large can produce physical discomfort, such as back pain or respiratory problems, as well as pose a significant esthetic problem for some women. Breast reduction provides excellent results in these cases given that along with reducing volume, it improves breast firmness and shape.
Indications:
Healthy, of age women who want to reduce the size of their breasts because of physical problems or esthetic displeasure.
Procedure:
Breast reduction is realized by removing an excess of skin, fat and glandular tissue through an incision that although visible, is designed to stay hidden from general sight. The procedure lasts between 2 and 4 hours and generally, the woman stays at the hospital overnight.
Complications:
Women who smoke can experience cicatrization problems after surgery, and because of this it is recommended that they stop smoking at least one week before and for one month after the procedure. As with other breast surgeries, in the first few weeks some women experience altered sensitivity in their nipples.
After Surgery:
· First 48 hrs.: the woman can experience slight pain and tightness.
· After 2 days the dressing is taken off and changed for a sports bra without underwire.
· First week: on the third or fourth day, the woman can lead a practically normal life with some limitations of arm movement.
·After 7 days the stitches are taken out.
·First month: after the first four weeks she can progressively begin to do physical exercise. The pinkness of the scar begins to fade and skin sensitivity normalizes.
·First year: at Dorsia Clinics, our plastic surgeons continue to perform examinations of the surgery for a year following the procedure.
