Rhinoplasty NOSE Repair
The objective of a rhinoplasty is to decrease or increase the size of the nose, to change the tip or dorsal area or to correct deformities. The surgery also corrects congenital problems, traumas and some respiratory problems. The results achieved with this procedure are spectacular.
Indications:
The best candidate for this type of surgery is an individual who is looking to improve, not perfect, the appearance of their nose. It is important to have realistic expectations, be physically health and psychologically stable.
Procedure:
The operation consists in modifying the bony and cartilaginous structures of the nose in order to change its shape and improve facial harmony. One universal type of rhinoplasty that satisfies the needs of all patients does not exist; instead, the procedure is designed according to the needs of each patient. Incisions can be made inside the nose or hidden in hard to see areas when an open rhinoplasty is performed. At the same time that a rhinoplasty is performed, internal nasal surgery can be done in order to improve breathing.
Complications:
Any surgical procedure entails a certain degree of risk and it is important that the patient understands the risks associated with rhinoplasty or nose repair. With a rhinoplasty specifically, the patient will experience bruising and swelling in the treated area, but both will fade with time. People who smoke can experience problems with scarring after surgery, and because of this it is recommended that they stop smoking at least one week before and for one month after the procedure.
After surgery:
·First 48hrs: after the operation, the patient will wear a splint and supports to stabilize the septum. They can participate in normal daily activities.
·First week: inflammation begins to go down. After 7 to 10 days stitches are taken out.
·First month: using the splint while sleeping for the first few weeks is recommended.
First year: at Dorsia Clinics our plastic surgeons continue follow-up revisions of the surgery for up to one year after the procedure.
